Decision Point Founder Passes Away
Warren Willis, 85, founder and former CEO of Decision Point recently passed away in Flower Mound, Texas.
Dr. Willis founded Decision Point, formerly National School Project, in 2002, soon after his return from Mongolia after recognizing that public schools in the United States were a mission field in need of laborers to bring the gospel. Although he stepped down from his position as CEO earlier this year, Dr. Willis continued to maintain an active role in both the organization and in personal evangelism.
Dr. Willis was involved in full-time Christian ministry for nearly 60 years. A majority of these years were spent serving with Campus Crusade for Christ (now CRU) in assignments ranging from the turbulent campus of UC Berkeley in the 1960’s, the islands of Guam and Micronesia, and finally to Outer Mongolia.
Bringing his decades of experience mobilizing Christian workers and lifelong zeal for evangelism, Dr. Willis started Decision Point in suburban Los Angeles to equip high school students as campus missionaries to proclaim Christ at their own public high schools. Developing connections with local churches ensured that these students were being discipled, and gave local bodies of believers the opportunity to join this mission of reaching students and impacting their communities. In the 21 years since he founded Decision Point, his organization has grown to seven states and coached students at over 500 high schools for on campus outreach and thousands of new believers have found life in Christ.
Warren Willis never decided it was time to retire. Knowing that to serve God and to witness to everyone he came in contact with was his life’s calling, Dr. Willis continued to share the gospel every opportunity he got. He was an example to all who knew him of a faithful believer who was obedient to Christ’s words in Acts 1:8, “You shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the ends of the earth.”
