I arrived to Joint Base Balad, Iraq in March of 2008. My assignment was to be the hospital chaplain at the largest trauma center in the war zone. While this is the largest trauma center in theater, please keep in mind that it is still a relatively small facility. Our mission is not to keep severely wounded patients here, but to treat and stabilize them so they can be transported to Germany for longer term care.

Lamar Vest has accepted the Board of Trustees’ invitation to serve as the next president of the American Bible Society. Following a short period of transition, Dr. Vest will take on the full responsibilities as the American Bible Society’s next president beginning January 1, 2009.
