Dallas pastor Brady Boyd has been elected senior pastor of New Life Church. The congregation’s 95 percent vote for Boyd Monday, August 27, ended a 10-month search that began last November after founding pastor Ted Haggard stepped down amid allegations he solicited a male escort and purchased illegal drugs.

Kibera is the name given to the largest slum in Africa. It is located on the outskirts of Nairobi, the capital of Kenya. Although population estimates differ, most will agree that there are over 2 million people living in the slum. It has been said that of these, 900,000 are children and half of them are orphans. AIDS is the main reason for so many orphans. Their parents died of the dreaded disease and they are left with family members who are not able to care for them or who do not want to care for them. The kids are usually left to fend for themselves.
