A town in Massachusetts made headlines last year when it attempted to ban profanity. Protesters descended on the small community of Middleborough to voice their disapproval—using words television stations often had to bleep out. The controversy arose when residents at a town hall meeting voted to impose a $20 fine on anyone caught cursing in a public place. The Massachusetts attorney general later ordered the town’s leaders to rescind the measure.

Religious freedom is only one consideration out of many in the battle between retail craft giant Hobby Lobby and the Obama administration, according to the amici curiae brief filed by Life Legal Defense Foundation in the United States Supreme Court. “The Health and Human Services mandate that requires employers to provide insurance coverage for abortion and abortion inducing drugs puts women at risk,” said Dana Cody, President and Executive Director of Life Legal Defense Foundation. “It’s unbelievably irresponsible and sexist,” Cody added.

They might have a lot to offer but many times it’s an uphill battle just to get the resources needed to operate. A startup ministry called Crowds for Christ is hoping to change that. They’re building a network that will allow ministries, churches, small groups, and individuals to post needs (prayer, material, financial, and personnel) and share resources.
