A Lutheran pastor in Newtown, Conn., has apologized after being reprimanded for participating in an interfaith vigil following the shooting massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School. The Rev. Rob Morris, pastor of Christ the King Lutheran Church, prayed at the vigil the Sunday following the Dec. 14 shootings alongside other Christian, Muslim, Jewish and Baha’i clergy.

Although statistics report that more than 700 people give up reading the Bible every day in America, one Christian church in New Jersey is bucking the trend.

Last month a special dinner was hosted by the Pentecostal Theological Seminary and Dr. Oliver McMahan, for the Latin American Executive Committee and the Bishops of the Hispanic regions in the U.S. Also in attendance was leadership from the World Missions department, Dr. Tim Hill and Reverend John Childers. During the evening, Dr. Donnie Smith, executive administrator of the Care Ministries division, presented a check for $50,000 to Dr. David Ramirez in support of the Latin American Leadership Summit.
