For decades, Mother’s Day in the Church of God has meant more than just honoring the matriarch of the family. Through the years, the women of the Church of God have been instrumental in supporting The Smoky Mountain Children’s Home in Sevierville, Tennessee, founded nearly 100 years ago in 1920. Church and women’s groups have been traveling to the campus for workdays, financially sponsoring a group home at the campus, saving thousands Campbell’s Soup labels to redeem for new vehicles, or participating in the Box Tops for Education program.

The traditional Mother’s Day Offering is just one more way the women of the Church of God lead the way in perpetuating this vital ministry. Not just women, but individuals and churches have made taking up a love offering for The Home an annual tradition. The Home depends on the generosity of all of these groups to continue their ministry to children of East Tennessee.

A newly released video highlighting the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home has been released to pastors across the nation which may be used to make an appeal for the love offering. The video features the First Lady of the Church of God, Paula Hill.
