Operation Compassion Ranked #1 Most Efficient Charity in America

Operation Compassion, an independent benevolent organization with roots in the Church of God, has been named the, “Most Efficient Charity in America” by Forbes.com.

While Operation Compassion was responding to Hurricane Sandy and her aftermath, several awards were given by nonprofit evaluators. Forbes.com just released its Top 200 Charities in the United States and Operation Compassion was ranked #1 as the most efficient charity. In spending less than 2/10 of 1 penny on overhead expenses, Operation Compassion tied with four other charities.

In the article, Forbes.com stated, “Operation Compassion targets foreign disasters and domestic poor as it directs donated basic goods and water. Its financial efficiencies couldn’t be higher.”

“This efficiency is why Operation Compassion can partner with many other charities around the world,” stated OC Director Dave Lorency. ” Operation Compassion is trusted with their donations.”

Two weeks ago, The Chronicle of Philanthropy released their Top 400 Charities and Operation Compassion was ranked in the top 100 out 1.8 million charities surveyed. Under the sub-category of International Relief, Operation Compassion was ranked in the top 20 and in Tennessee was ranked 2nd only behind St. Jude’s Hospital.

In addition, GuideStar recently awarded Operation Compassion their Valued Non-Profit Exchange Seal. GuideStar is a non-profit agency which reviews more than 1.8 million non-profits to determine their transparency and accountability.

Earlier in the year, Operation Compassion was granted permission to advertise in the Combined Federal Campaign under the category of “Less Than 1% of Overhead.”

Today, The Non-Profit Times announced that Operation Compassion was listed in their Top 100 Charities in the United States. Once again, Operation Compassion was examined for accountability, transparency and efficiency.
