On the afternoon of April 14, tornadoes started popping up in Oklahoma from a storm system that was heading to the deep south. By Saturday, the storm had reserved its worse destruction for North Carolina and Virginia where hundreds of homes had been destroyed or severely damaged. Fatalities were reported across the region and untold numbers have been injured.
