In recognition of the 100th birthday of Lee University this year, Faith News is presenting a series of four articles on the history of the Church of God’s premier educational institution. This second in the series recalls the years 1943 – 1968. The article is a reprint from an appearance in the Lee University Torch, written on the occasion of Lee University’s 75th birthday in 1993. The writer was the late Charles W. Conn, a former president of Lee College (1970-1982) and general overseer of the Church of God from 1966-1970. Conn is also author of Like A Mighty Army, a history of the Church of God.

Last week, I boarded a flight for Miami to begin a journey to South America. But our departure time came and went, and flight attendants made numerous announcements apologizing for the delay. Finally, the pilot announced that we had a mechanical problem. He instructed everyone to get off the plane.

Church of God World Missions leaders have been releasing progress reports for the Send the Light to the Cities (SL2C) Project, an initiative to reach 10 major cities around the world with the people and resources God gives. World Missions recently released a report on the progress taking place in the SL2C city of Mexico City, Mexico:

First time author Dina L. Lieber was especially restless one July night in 2017. Unable to let go of the phrase “Love God Love Peoples” running nonstop in her mind, she finally got up at 2:00 a.m. and wrote it down. However, that was not the end of the story. A beautiful symbol appeared in her mind and after drawing it on a scratch pad she was finally able to get some sleep. In the days to follow, that phrase and symbol became the driving force leading to the newly released new book titled “Love God Love Peoples; A Bible Study for the Curious.”
