Operation Compassion Continues Assisting Christians in Iraq

Nearly 2,000 years ago, St. Thomas started a church in Erbil which is in modern day Iraq. Erbil is located about 55 miles east of Mosul and has a permanent population of about 1.5 million. Erbil is also the capital and largest city of the Kurdistan region of Iraq, a city that dates back to 6000 BC.

Opening Address from International Executive Council to be Livestreamed

Cleveland, TN–The 2016-2018 edition of the Church of God International Executive Council will convene for the first time since the group was elected at the International General Assembly last July. The meeting is set to begin on Tuesday, September 27 at 9:00 a.m. and for the first time in the history of the Council meeting, the general overseer’s opening address will be streamed live on the Church of God website at www.churchofgod.org.

Outreach magazine, one of the most respected publications appealing to churches across the nation, has released their annual Outreach 100 Megachurch Report, featuring the country’s 100 fastest-growing churches. Two Church of God congregations made the prestigious list, including one that landed in the Top 10.

Cleveland, TN–The fall 2016 issue of Engage, a journal for Church of God leaders, has been released from the Church of God International Offices.

Cayman Islands Gets First National Overseer

The Church of God in the Cayman Islands, a British territory in the Caribbean situated south of Cuba, have a national overseer for the first time. Before this time, the Cayman Islands had been combined in the territory of the Overseer of Jamaica. Bishop Eitel Morris and his wife, Beverly Blair-Morris, were inaugurated on September 9, 2016, by Church of God World Missions Director David Griffis and Field Director Ishmael Charles.

World Missions Announces ‘Send the Light’ Project

Church of God World Missions Director David M. Griffis and Assistant Director M. Thomas Propes have announced the launch of the Send the Light to the Cities Strategic Initiative.
