Mobilize:Local Leadership Development is the new version of the former Lay Leadership Development (LLD) produced by the Church of God Division of Education (DOE).
Last-minute reservations are being processed for the upcoming Jail and Prison Ministry Conference, slated for next weekend, October 24-25, 2013. The event is sponsored by Church of God USA Missions.
After a deadly tornado ripped through Moore, Oklahoma earlier this year, Operation Compassion, an independent benevolent organization with roots in the Church of God, and many relief partners responded to the immediate needs of the community. Operation Compassion responded with four relief sites, twenty-five semi-trucks of goods, shower trailers, freezer units and forty-foot storage units. In addition, Operation Compassion sent financial resources to other charities to assist with their responses.
Pastor Alec Rowlands will present the eighth annual Azusa Lecture, “Standing at the Crossroads: God’s Guiding Presence in Revival.” The lecture will be Thursday, October 24, at 7:00 p.m. in the North Cleveland Church of God’s Bryant Fellowship Hall. Following Rowlands’ presentation, Dr. R. Hollis Gause will receive the Spirit of Azusa Award for his life-long contribution to the Pentecostal movement as a Bible teacher, scholar, and author. The lecture and a reception for Gause are free and open to the public.
In October, 2010, the Church of God joined the Micah Challenge 10.10.10 global campaign of prayer and action around the issue of extreme poverty. Many local congregations and thousands of members participated. Now, Church of God congregations are asked to join the “Shine A Light” campaign being organized by Micah Challenge International during the month of October.
