During the director’s address to the SMCH staff, Mauldin shared his vision for the future of SMCH. He remarked, “You have been doing some really good things here at the Children’s Home; however, I believe we can go from good to great!” Mauldin also commented that he and his wife, Tammie, were very excited about being a part of the Smoky Mountain Children’s Home team and looked forward to working with them and getting to know the community of Sevierville.
After graduating from Lee College, Mauldin completed a Master’s degree at the University of Southern Mississippi and a doctorate at the University of Miami, Florida. Mauldin also completed post-doctorate work at Harvard University and Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. Prior to coming to Smoky Mountain Children’s Home, Mauldin served as Vice President for Administration at Lee University and held the rank of Professor. From 1997 to 2002, he served as the Dean of the School of Music and conducted the Lee Singers from 1989 to 2006, touring twenty-five countries and completing numerous recording projects while ministering in hundreds of local congregations throughout the United States. Mauldin is noted as a speaker, administrator, and worship leader. The Mauldins have three sons and one daughter, as well as seven grandchildren.
