As devastating water scarcity continues to ravage parts of South India, faith-based agency Gospel for Asia (GFA, www.gfa.org) has reported that “Jesus Wells” they help support are pumping lifesaving water for thousands of desperate families in the drought-stricken Chennai region.

Earlier this summer when the Arkansas River crested more than 40 feet out of its banks, towns all along the river were flooded. One such town was Moffett, Oklahoma where every structure was affected by the flood waters. Moffett School, serving pre-k through 8th grade, sustained significant damage.

Betsy DeVos, the U.S. secretary of education, who is known to be a strong evangelical, met with several pastors recently to pray for safety as the school year begins. After three intense days with deep discussions and productive sessions, the bi-annual meeting of the World Council of Churches(WCC) ECHOS Commission came to an end on Thursday.
