Earlier this summer when the Arkansas River crested more than 40 feet out of its banks, towns all along the river were flooded. One such town was Moffett, Oklahoma where every structure was affected by the flood waters. Moffett School, serving pre-k through 8th grade, sustained significant damage.

Betsy DeVos, the U.S. secretary of education, who is known to be a strong evangelical, met with several pastors recently to pray for safety as the school year begins. Entrepreneur Kenny Koldenhoven of Lake Mary, Florida—a longtime friend of the DeVoses—set up the meeting in Washington, D.C., with DeVos and his pastor, Shaddy Soliman of Lake Mary Church, along with two other local pastors. They met for 45 minutes specifically to pray.

After three intense days with deep discussions and productive sessions, the bi-annual meeting of the World Council of Churches(WCC) ECHOS Commission came to an end on Thursday. Fourteen young committee members and staff from 20 different countries all over the world had gathered in Seoul, Korea to further strengthen the WCC young peoples movement and continue the pilgrimage of justice and peace.

Under the central theme of Redefinition: A Pentecostal Church Pointing Towards an Integrated and Global Mission, several educators, pastors and Millennial theologians presented research papers on the ecclesiastical practice and contextual reality among the Hispanic/Latino constituents of the United States and Canada.
