Operation 9-1-1 Called for Sunday, September 11
Last year following the General Assembly, Dr. Raymond Culpepper urged Church of God congregations to engage in 30 Days of Concentrated Prayer. The website www.praycog.org was loaded with resources for preaching and teaching, prayer exercises and resources, including videos. This year, the call to pray through the month of September is being sounded again.
Dr. Tim Hill, First Assistant General Overseer and Chair of the USA Missions Division has added a special dimension to the September Saturated Prayer Effort -OPERATION 9-1-1. A special introductory video is available explaining the concept. Dr. Hill notes, “The idea is simple – and yet potentially so powerful. This is,” he explains, “the tenth anniversary of 9-11. Who can forget that dismal day? The worst attack on American soil since Pearl Harbor. This year, 9-11 comes on a Sunday. The Church of God is calling for special prayer for the nation on that day.”
Two videos have been produced. The first is an introductory video, available at www.praycog.org and the Church of God website (at the Media Center). The second video is made to be shown to our assembled congregations on the Sunday of September 11, and followed by a call to prayer for revival and awakening in the nation.
In addition, throughout the month of September, Dr. Hill noted, “We are asking our churches to join OPERATION 9-1-1 and urge their people to pause at 9 AM or PM, to pray for 1 minute, with 1 motive – a spiritual awakening for the nation.” For 30 days – twice daily prayer for the nation could spark a revival spirit. The idea is simple – but potentially powerful.
The prayer office is working now to mobilize prayer in every state so that for 30 days in September, the Church of God will be praying non-stop. Someone, somewhere, will be on their knees in prayer for the nation.
