Lives That Count

What do you call four women sporting tutus and flowers in their hair? According to the Nicaraguans, the prettiest clowns they’ve ever seen. Because of the colorful costumes, the bright flowers, the fancy shoes? No, because of the love and joy that comes only from the Father. In fact, most of the time, these clowns were dirty and sweaty, hair tousled from riding in the back of a pick-up truck. They were not professionals. They did not have it all together. They simply answered the call, “Here am I, LORD. Send me!”

It’s not always easy to step out of our comfort zone, to offer our bodies as living sacrifices. Most of the time, we doubt ourselves. “I don’t know what I’m doing. This is not my gift.” But, “God’s will for us is less about our comfort than it is about our contribution. God created us so that our lives would count, not so that we could count the days of our lives” – Erwin McManus. In I Corinthians 9:22b, Paul said, “I have become all things to all men so that by all possible means I might save some.” Are you using all possible means to reach the world around you? March 24 – 28, four women put on tutus, flowers, and silly socks to be a light in the darkness; to feed the children of Nicaragua, not just physically but spiritually. Lives were changed forever. What are you willing to do for the kingdom? Live a life that counts!
