General Assembly Registration, Housing Begins January 9
The 74th International General Assembly of the Church of God will take place at the Orange County Convention Center July 24-27, 2012 in Orlando, Florida. Registration and housing for the event begins on Monday, January 9, 2012.
Registration and housing forms for GA2012 have already been released in the December issue of Evangel magazine. The forms can either be mailed or faxed, but will not begin to be processed until January 9, the same day the online registration and housing begins.
“If you plan to attend GA2012, online registration is the quickest and most efficient way,” stated Scot Carter, director of the General Assembly. Carter said a significant upgrade to the housing picture is the addition of several hundred new rooms at the Peabody Hotel, located next to the OCCC and connected by a covered walkway. Carter went on to say that although there are plenty of hotel rooms and there is no limit on the number of people who can register for the four day event, the earlier the process can be completed the easier it will be on everyone.
This is the second time a general assembly will be held in the same city at least two consecutive times. The 54th, 55th, and 56th general assemblies were held in Dallas, Texas in 1972, 1974, and 1976.
Plans are well underway for GA2012. Much of the locations and what took place in GA2010 will remain, including the worship and business session venues, as well as the exhibit hall. A special Web site dedicated to all aspects of the 74th General Assembly, including on-line registration and hotel reservations, will be launched on January 9, 2012. The site will be located on the Church of God Web site, www.churchofgod.org. The site will be continually updated with items posted as they become available. One of the most anticipated items is the agenda for the General Council, which will be debated and voted upon during GA2012. The agenda, however, will not be released until it is finalized by the International Executive Council at their April 2012 meeting, and the document is mailed to all Ordained Bishops.
