Youth and Discipleship Prepares for Teen Talent
The Youth and Discipleship ministry of the Church of God is gearing up as young people across the nation prepare to participate in the long-standing Church of God tradition called Teen Talent.
State and regional events are being scheduled where teens are preparing to compete in the categories of Art, Bible, Creative Writing, Drama, Music and Multi-Media. Winners at the state and regional levels will advance to the national finals which will be held for the second time at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. Nationals are scheduled for the week of July 29-August 2. Lee will host the individuals and groups in the Lee residence halls, with meals in the campus dining facilities and a number of extracurricular activities.
The Teen talent program has a threefold objective:
• To discover talent
• To develop talent
• To dedicate talent
A statement on the Youth and Discipleship website says, “The Church of God believes in her young people. Youth today have an extraordinary capacity to learn, to develop skills, and to display leadership. Realizing this, the Church of God has taken positive steps of action through the Teen Talent Program to guide youth in utilizing their abilities in their everyday lives and in the church for the glory of God…Through regional/state and international competition, Church of God young people are led in an exciting program of competition that sparks excitement about God’s talent gifts and helps to cultivate qualities of character for adventurous Christian living.”
