Mark Williams, General Overseer of the Church of God, has continued to call for ‘Great Days of Prayer.’ This is a church-wide call for pastors and congregations to bring prayer to the heart of all they do, to practice prayer. Four times a year, these ‘Great Days’ of prayer are suggested, typically on the first Sunday of each quarter.
This year, on Sunday, June 30, before the 4th of July, churches across the nation will engage in ‘Call2Fall.’ This is a moment of prayer for the nation. The event is sponsored by Family Research Council and it envisions a people in congregations across the nation, members are being asked to “fall on their knees, in humble acknowledgment of our individual and national dependence upon Almighty God, on the Sunday before the Fourth of July, before we bring out fireworks and hot dogs to celebrate our nation’s birthday.”
Numerous support materials have been produced for use by churches by the Family Research Council – www.call2fall.com.
In addition, Doug Small has produced two manuscript messages both with power point presentations that involve prayer moments for the congregation. They are downloadable at www.praycog.org/great-days-of-prayer.
“Imagine,” Pierre Bynum, the chaplain of the Family Research Council says, “the power of millions of believers on their knees, in tens of thousands of congregations, pleading for heaven to send revival to the nation!” United prayer has always been a feature of every great awakening. Last year, an estimated 1.5 million Christians went to their knees across the nation on ‘Call2Fall’ Sunday in thousands of congregations of almost every denomination. Let’s join the movement and cry out to God for a national spiritual awakening.
