Heartland Region Votes to Move Offices
The Heartland Region (Oklahoma and Kansas) of the Church of God recently announced their intentions to relocate regional offices to Edmond, Oklahoma.
According to a release from Administrative Bishop M. Darrell Rice, he said, “History was made today when the ministers of the Heartland Region, in a display of unity and vision, unanimously voted to purchase an office building (new construction) located at 756 Santa Fe Avenue, Edmond, Oklahoma.” Kansas and Oklahoma were combined to form the Heartland Region of the Church of God a few years ago.
The release went on to say that the Regional Council offered four reasons for their recommendation to purchase the building:
1) Location – Since the ministers voted last fall to relocate the offices, focus was given on the northeast sector of Oklahoma City along the I-35 corridor. This location meets that criteria putting the office in a location that better serves both Kansas and Oklahoma.
2) Price – At $126 per square foot, Rice said, “this is a very good price for a brand new building in a growing area of Edmond. We will be able to pay cash for the building and raise funds through a $130,000 “challenge” gift for regional properties.
3) Floor plan – With a few adjustments the Heartland Region will have more than adequate space for a conference room/classroom, large workroom, offices and storage.
4) Resale value – The property is located in a growing area of Oklahoma.
Construction is expected to be complete by the end of August.
“Thanks be to God and to his servants – the pastors and ministers of Kansas and Oklahoma – for this momentous move in the life of the Church of God in the Heartland!,” Rice said. He also offered thanks to Dr. David M. Griffis, Church of God Executive Committee liaison to the Heartland Region, for his support and encouragement through the process.
