City Prayer Teams to be Launched at Praying Church Conference

On August 23, 2013 following the Praying Church Conference in Cartersville, Ga., individuals and teams from cities are invited to a session scheduled from 2:00 PM to 7 P.M. The session, to be led by P. Douglas Small will announce a rare joint project of the Mission America Coalition and the National Prayer Committee.

Dave Butts, chairman of the National Prayer Committee that represents a collage of the nation’s most formidable prayer organizations noted, “While the national leaders of prayer organizations gather at least annually for collaboration on the prayer needs of the nation, their local representatives have no corresponding on-going connection.” It is the purpose of a new organization, conceived by Doug Small, of Project Pray, to launch a grassroots effort to create community prayer leadership teams.

Mission America, led by Paul Cedar, is acknowledged as “the largest coalition of church leaders ever assembled for the express purpose of evangelism in America” with more than 500 organizational partners. Dr. Paul Cedar observed, “Awakening always begins with prayer- community-based prayer that longs for national spiritual renewal and widespread evangelism. And the idea of community prayer leadership teams representing national existing organizations with congregational prayer representatives seems like an idea whose time has come.”

Small noted, “Dozens of these organizations and networks already exist. But they are unaware of resources that could assist them and they are often silos, functioning alone. The goal of the network will be to nurture the formation of new local networks, increase awareness of resources, and facilitate communication across the nation between these local community prayer efforts.”
