Church of God World Missions Orphanage Story!
A Little Girl Without a Country . . . But with a family!
“I got up every morning to walk several miles to the fields to work very hard all day. When I returned in the evening I must complete all the household chores before being allowed to eat. I wanted to go to school so badly, that I worked so that “uncle” would allow me to go to school,“ says Mukdah.
On the border of Myanmar (Burma) the wasteland of refugee camps, war zones, systemic human rights violations such as: genocide, use of child soldiers, systemic rape, child slavery, and human sex trafficking is not place for children . . . but this was the world for our little girl named Mukdah. In this world a little girl did not have a chance. Mukdah was sent across the border into Thailand to serve as a type of servant who could earn enough for her education as an elementary aged girl.
Mukdah continues, “When I was eleven, “uncle” did not want me to go to school anymore. I would have to work everyday for more money. I thought there was no way out.” It seemed inevitable that Mukdah would fall into the human trafficking world of sex abuse. The children of slavery in places like this often see human trafficking as their way out of slavery; only to find themselves horribly taken advantage of and abused.
But God had a plan for Mukdah! Lily and Somnuck Montrelerdrasme who oversees our orphanage near Changdao in Thailand became aware of Mukdah’s plight when she was 13 years old. They said “YES.” She came to the orphanage. It is amazing how one word can change your life. Mukdah like several of the children at the Changdao Orphanage are originally from Myanmar (Burma). But no one can prove their citizenship there, no family or relatives. They are currently in Changdoa Thailand, but they are not citizens of Thailand. They literally have no country. Although, Mukdah does not have a country. She now has a family that is committed to her. She excels in school. She has accepted Christ, and I heard personally heard her testify of God love and how he was working in her life. She is part of the family of God.
At Changdoa, Mudkah is now seventeen. She has grown into a beautiful young woman of God. She leads in worship, bible study and helps with the younger children. This story could not happen without the support of people who are willing to invest in the life of a child!
