Regional Youth Director Killed in Accident
August 12, 2015–Church of God leaders have been informed that Josh (Josue) Pimentel, regional director of youth and discipleship for the Southeast Region of the Church of God, died in an automobile accident in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina yesterday, August 11, 2015.
Josh, along with his wife, Gladys and their family, were vacationing in Myrtle Beach when the accident occurred. Gladys and the children were only slightly injured. The family lives in Tampa, Florida, where Josh served the Church of God Hispanic youth in the states of Florida and South Georgia.
“Josh was dear to Sandra Kay, Austin, Ryan and me,” stated General Overseer Mark Williams upon learning the news. “His humility and servant’s heart never ceased to impress me. We feel his loss deeply and personally. Our hearts are broken. “
David Ray, administrative liaison to the general overseer and director of Church of God Communications said, “The Church of God has lost a genuine young leader who embodied what it means to have a servant’s heart. He was gifted with logistics coordination. The entire Church of God grieves this loss and we stand united in prayer with Gladys, Abigail, Bethany and Josue, Jr.”
Gary Lewis, international director of Youth and Discipleship said, “Our hearts ache for the Pimentel family in this tragedy. Josh was a beloved leader in the Southeast Hispanic region with a heart for God and young people. The entire Church of God family has lost a true warrior of the faith. Please be in prayer for the Pimentel family as they recover and cope with this devastating loss.”
