Leadership Groups Come Together for Joint Meeting
Cleveland, TN–The International Council of the Church of God has completed meetings at the International Offices of the Church of God. The group of world leaders was in session from September 27-29, where they discussed matters of global significance to the Church of God. On Tuesday, September 29, the International Executive Council came together for a joint session between the two bodies.
General Overseer Mark Williams, a member of the International Council, along with the four other members of the Executive Committee, moderated the gathering at the Leadership and Communications Center.
“The testimonies have been amazing,” Williams said of the reports coming in during the gathering. “God is pouring out his spirit upon the world….I am so proud of these leaders. ” Williams cited figures reported during the session, which included 4,000 new churches being planted globally. Members reported dealing with challenges around the world, including the European influx of Syrian refugees, the insurgence of ISIS and combatting the ebola virus.
”We heard and made strategic decisions about how we are going to address these crises,” Williams said.
On Tuesday, September 29, the International Council was joined by the International Executive Council as they began their regularly-scheduled September session. During the afternoon session, Williams delivered his General Overseer’s Address to the joint body, followed by a financial report of the Church from director of Business and Records Raymond Hodge. The IC and IEC completed their joint gathering at a fellowship dinner on Tuesday evening.
The International Executive Council continues their sessions today with reports from several committees. Their agenda also includes a Leadership Training session with Dr. Fred Garmon, and preparation of the list of items to be included on the agenda for discussion and debate at the 76th General Assembly next summer. Completion of that agenda is due by April of 2016 in time for distribution prior to the July Assembly.
