Texas Churches Assist Operation Compassion Tornado Response
Over the Christmas weekend tornadoes and severe flooding struck the south and southeast leaving devastation and destruction in their wake. Texas was the hardest hit recording an EF4 tornado. More than 40 people have been killed and more than 600 hundred homes/structures destroyed.
Operation Compassion has responded with five semi-trucks with more enroute. Some of the products loaded on the trucks include bottled water, Gatorade, food and disaster buckets. One of our disaster partners, God’s Pit Crew, has joined the response as well. The trucks will be delivered to our partners on the ground that is able to unload semi-trucks and distribute product to smaller churches. Turning Point Church and Pastor Rusty Dotson in Desoto, TX and Central Park Church and Pastor Adolpho De La Garza in Garland, TX will serve as the disaster relief sites. Abundant Praise Fellowship and Pastor Keith Green in Garland, TX will function as a satellite disaster relief site serving in close proximity to the destruction.
Pastor Green and his church are located only 1.5 miles from the worst destruction in Garland. Pastor Dotson and his church are serving as the hub for the disaster relief response because of their ability to unload semi-trucks at their facility. Pastor De La Garza and his church are also serving as a hub as they are already a distribution site for feeding the needy in the city.
