No Reports of Church Members Harmed in Brussels Attacks
On Tuesday, March 22, 2016, terrorists attacked the city of Brussels, Belgium, causing death to at least 34 people in two locations.
In an early Tuesday morning (March 22) conference call with Dr. Tim Hill, director of Church of God World Missions and assistant director, Dr. John Childers, Reverend Chris Swift, superintendent for the Church of God in Western Europe, indicated that so far there are no reports of church members being involved in the tragedies at the airport and at the metro subway station in Brussels.
General Overseer Mark Williams placed personal calls to Swift and prominent church leader, Reverend Martin Mutyebele, to pray for the families of victims, asking God “to place a canopy of mercy and grace over the city of Brussels and all of Belgium to shield them from further attacks.”
“I remain convinced that violence and hate will not have the last word,” Williams concluded. “God will have the last word.”
Please join with the Church of God to pray for God’s comfort to be with the families of those who suffered death and injury and that the peace of God would rest upon the nation of Belgium.
The Church of God will continue to monitor the situation and be in touch with leaders in Western Europe to be of assistance as the need arises.
