Lee University Plans Annual ‘Lee Day’ Weekend
Beginning Friday, April 8, Lee University will host its annual Lee Day, 34 hours of excitement geared toward prospective students, parents and youth leaders.
“For many years, Lee Day has been the reason students choose to enroll at Lee and this year will be no exception,” said Vice President for Enrollment Phil Cook. “We will welcome hundreds of students and their families to campus for an informational and inspiring two days of activity. In addition to the annual Lee Day favorites, we are pleased to welcome Lecrae to campus for an outdoor Saturday evening concert. We expect this year to be a wonderful event for all of our guests and the community.”
Lee Day events kick off at 11 a.m. Friday with registration and opportunities for prospective students to observe featured classes. Campus tours and academic displays will follow, giving guests a chance to meet faculty and students in the departments of their interest.
At 12:30 p.m., early class selection will begin. At this time, incoming freshmen will have the opportunity to choose their class schedules for the fall 2016 semester.
That afternoon, prospective students who are undecided about their major will be able to hear current students and faculty talk about options during “Major Discovery.” Guests will then be able to hear the various Lee ensembles perform during “Music in the Air.” Info sessions regarding Lee Theatre and Summer Honors, along with men’s and women’s tennis matches, will also occur that afternoon.
A gigantic block party with food, fun and Lee students will take place Friday at 5 p.m. At 6:30, the Worship Rally featuring Lee President Dr. Paul Conn, The Voices of Lee, and Lee’s Chapel Band will take place, followed by “Lee U Spotlight,” an opportunity to view highlights of Lee music, award-winning videos, and alumni stories. At 8 p.m., guests and students can choose between attending the Lee Theatre production “The Diary of Anne Frank” or participating in blacklight “glow” dodgeball.
Saturday morning begins with more opportunities for early class selection and campus tours, as well as academic, club and organization displays. Prospective athletes will have opportunities to meet the coaches and receive tryout information. There will also be an audition prep workshop where prospective students will be able to perform for professors’ critiques.
An informative Q & A session will be hosted for the parents by Lee President Paul Conn and the financial aid staff, where lunch will be provided. Prospective students will be able to tour residence halls during this time.
Luncheons for transfer students and high school seniors will take place at noon, with an opportunity to register for scholarship drawings. Luncheons will also be hosted for high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors, as well as Lee alumni.
Kairos Honors info sessions and School of Music auditions will take place that afternoon, and shortly afterward there will be opportunities to watch a men’s alumni soccer game or men’s and women’s tennis matches.
At 2:30 p.m. in the Conn Center, the crowd favorite “Life at Lee,” a lighthearted look at campus life, returns. Following “Life at Lee,” the drawing for eight scholarships will occur just before everyone is invited to convene for a barbecue cookout in Alumni Park.
Grammy and Dove award-winning Christian hip hop artist, songwriter, and record producer Lecrae will perform in concert to conclude the festivities on Saturday at 8 p.m.
