Biblical History Substantiated Again
After aligning the pharaohs of the Turin King List, Eve Engelbrite has also successfully aligned the kings of the Sumerian King List to the Bible’s history. The Sumerian King List (SKL) was written over 400 years before Moses compiled the narratives of Genesis which include genealogies of people who lived an average of 900 years prior to Noah’s Flood. Correspondingly, the SKL recorded reigns of 58 to 120 years for eight kings before “the flood.” Scholars knew the unit of the large Sumerian antediluvian reigns were days, easily solved by dividing them by Noah’s 360-day year to determine the regnal years; but they couldn’t figure out the unit for the reigns “after the flood.” This author has validated that post-flood units are months, because the calculations using months equal the sub-totals provided within the Sumerian King List.
“After the flood had swept over, and the kingship had descended from heaven, the kingship was in Kish.” – Sumerian King List
Contemporary city-states in Sumer, the Bible’s Shinar, were ruled by one high king from his capital; the first being Kish, self-designated by Cush. Engelbrite’s book, “Genesis Solves Sumerian King List,” provides regnal dates connecting Noah’s grandson Cush to Hammurabi. Though Cush fathered an African nation (Ethiopia, formerly called Cush), he returned to rule the cities he built in Sumer: Ur, Uruk and Kish. Known as “Cush of Ur” his name is recorded as “Gishur” in the SKL. Near the ancient bank of the Euphrates River, Cush’s palace may have recently been discovered ten miles from present-day Ur.
Archaeological periods, largely based upon pottery, have been aligned to Genesis.
• The Ubaid expansion: the tribe of Cush may not have made good pottery, but they built great cities.
• The Uruk expansion: Nimrod was a tyrant who took over the cities his father, Cush, had built; and the mass-produced pottery improved little.
• Early Bronze Age abandonment: Nimrod thought a fortified city (Babel, meaning “gate of El”) with a massive ziggurat could protect his empire, but God (Elohim) scattered the people.
Between the destruction of Nimrod’s Babel and Hammurabi’s reign in Babylon is only 385 years. With 30 pictures and over 70 charts, “Genesis Solves Sumerian King List” is simple enough for the novice to follow, yet robust with over 500 footnotes for the scholar.
