International Educator’s Luncheon Scheduled for General Assembly

The Church of God Division of Education will hold its International Educators Luncheon at the International General Assembly on Tuesday, July 19, 2016, in the Legends Ballroom of the Omni Nashville Hotel, beginning at 11:45 a.m. and concluding at 1:15 p.m.

The special guest speaker will be Lee University President Charles Paul Conn, Ph.D., who is now in his 30th year as president of the church’s flagship educational institution. Dr. Conn is a much sought-after speaker in both worship and educational venues and is a favorite preacher in the Lee chapel services.

During his administration, the university has seen significant growth: enrollment has increased from 1,200 to more than 5,000, the physical campus has been substantially enlarged and rebuilt, and the school’s reputation as a regional leader has been established.

During the luncheon, the General Board of Education will present the 2016 Distinguished Educator Awards—the Distinguished Educator Faculty Award and the Distinguished Educator Leadership Award. After receiving nominations from Church of God educators around the world, a prestigious panel of judges made the final decisions for the two award recipients.

The theme for the luncheon is “Go Make Disciples!” Drawn from the Lord’s Great Commission in Matthew 28:19, special emphasis is placed on the Greek word Jesus specifically chose for the command, “Make Disciples” (matheteúsate). The Greek word refers to what is taught to followers who desire to become disciples of Jesus Christ.

Tickets for the luncheon are $25.00 per person. In order to guarantee seating, registrations must be received no later than July 5, 2016.
