Conlon Featured in Prayer Ministries Afterglow at General Assembly
Church of God Prayer Ministries will conduct an afterglow at the 76th International General Assembly of the Church of God on Tuesday, July 19 at 9:30 p.m. The afterglow will feature time with Carter Conlon, Senior Pastor of the Times Square Church in New York City. During the event, Pastor Conlon will share informally. Copies of his book, “Fear Not,” will available.
The afterglow will be held at Room 107 on the first level of the Music City Center in Nashville, the location of the Assembly. P. Douglas Small, Church of God prayer coordinator, will also share about the creation of an intercessor’s network.
“Around the world, the tide of prayer continues to intensify,” Small stated. “And where there is prayer, and passion, especially for the lost, conversions and church plants are exploding.” Small was recently tagged to head the newly formed Pentecostal-Charismatic Churches of North America Prayer Commission, a collage of more than 30 Pentecostal denominations and their prayer coordinators, some 40,000 congregations. In addition, he serves on the leadership team of the Denominational Prayer Leader’s Network, a group of almost 150,000 U.S. congregations.
Small says the Times Square Church is a model for prayerful evangelism. The Times Square staff believes that God has called them to be a house of prayer and a testimony of God’s love and mercy to New York City and beyond. Pastor Conlon’s “For Pastors Only” reaches more than 5,000 pastors worldwide. His one-minute daily devotionals air on Christian radio stations nationwide five days per week, summoning the nation to prayer. Soon after assuming the leadership role at Times Square, Conlon traveled with a team of hundreds to Zambia for humanitarian outreach. Witnessing the plight of street children, he established ChildCry —a ministry that provides 4,000 meals a day for children in 22 countries. Now, they are reaching out locally through Feed New York, a partnership program with some 100 congregations of various denominations throughout the city, who offer food, prayer, and hope to their neighborhoods. The initiative now supports over 10,000 New Yorkers through food assistance programs within the five boroughs. Conlon’s most recent book is “The 180 Degree Christian: Serving Jesus in a Culture of Excess,” published by Bethany House. He also wrote, “Fear Not: Living Courageously in Uncertain Times,” and “Unshakable: Trusting God When All Else Fails.” In some circles, he may be best known for his children’s books, “Petey Yikes,” “Katie and the Dogs are Gone,” “Every Good House Needs a Mouse,” and “Muddy Dogs & New White Chairs.”
