‘Lunch and Learn’ Scheduled for July 20 at Assembly
A new event will take place at the upcoming 76th Church of God International General Assembly on Wednesday as six simultaneous “Lunch and Learn” seminars will feature a variety of topics and speakers.
Scheduled for Wednesday, July 20, 2016, the sessions will take place on the first level of the spacious new Music City Center in Nashville, the site of the Assembly which begins the day before on Tuesday, July 19. The noon seminars are designed to be an intense, informative and challenging hour. Church and lay leaders are invited to attend.
Tackling the topic of Urban Evangelism will be Dr. Tony Evans, a well-known pastor, speaker, author, and widely syndicated radio and television broadcaster in the U.S. He is host of the radio broadcast, The Alternative with Tony Evans. It will take place in room 101 and be facilitated by Rev. Tom Madden.
Dr. Fred Garmon, executive director of People for Care and Learning and founder of LeaderLabs, will be teaching on the topic of Leadership in room 104. Facilitating this session will be Dr. Bill George.
In room 102, Dr. Art Rhodes will be lecturing on the topic of Legal Issues. Rhodes is an attorney who currently heads the Church of God Benefits Board, Inc. He will be assisted by facilitator, Dennis Watkins.
Teaching on the topic of Community Outreach will be the trio of J.C. Worley, Travis Hall and Brian Downing. Brett Mayes will be facilitating this Lunch and Learn session, which will take place in room 103.
Multi-Campus Strategies will be addressed by three Church of God pastors who have ministry experience in managing congregations across several sites. Guest speakers in this session will be Eli Bonilla, who pastors a bilingual congregation in San Antonio, Texas, Kevin Wallace of Redemption Point Church in Chattanooga, Tennessee and Dr. Mark Walker of Mount Paran North church, who will also serve as facilitator. The session is scheduled for room 105A.
Finally, the topic of Social Media/Branding will be taught by Jeremy Isaacs, a pastor and expert on social media in ministry. To be held in room 106, the session will be facilitated by Chad Guyton and Rob Alderman.
Several hundred delegates who have pre-registered for the General Assembly have already signed up to attend one of the six sessions. Anyone wishing to attend who has not signed up can do so at the Registration Desk on the second level of the Music City Center no later than Tuesday, July 19. Admission will be free, but will not include lunch.
