Leadership 2016 Begins; Two Sessions to be Livestreamed

Cleveland, TN—State and regional overseers, as well as youth and discipleship directors from across the United States are gathering for Leadership 2016, a biennial conference to train and equip state and regional leaders for service in the Kingdom.

The group will also include members of the Administrative Ministries Council (AMC), a body consisting of directors and coordinators of ministries at Church of God International Offices.

On Wednesday, newly-appointed administrative bishops will participate in an all-day orientation in the Leadership and Communications Center where they will be inundated with critical “nuts and bolts”
information pertaining to leading states and regions for the Church of God. Sessions will address topics such as finances, reporting, legal issues, property assessments, licensure, and minister’s meetings.

On Wednesday evening, September 14, session one of the conference will officially open with a welcome from General Overseer Tim Hill, special music from the Talley’s and the Voices of Lee,, led by Danny Murray. Dr. Kenneth Ulmer will deliver an opening challenge to the leadership.

This session, as well as the Friday night closing session will be available via livestream at www.churchofgod.org, beginning at 6:00 p.m. on both nights.

All day Thursday and Friday the leaders will participate in a variety of sessions held jointly at the North Cleveland Church of God (administrative bishops) and the Pentecostal Theological Seminary (youth directors). Sessions will address the topic, “Empowering Leaders,” and on Thursday evening, General Overseer Hill will present the FINISH Commitment models.

Throughout Thursday and Friday, special guest speakers representing a variety of leadership topics and organizations will present at the sessions. Some of the guests include Haydn Shaw, best-selling author and motivational speaker, Dino Rizzo, executive director of the Association of Related Churches (A.R.C.), Rae Orozco, pastor of Grace to the Nations, and James O. Davis, director of the Billion Soul Network.

State leaders of Women’s Discipleship and Girls Clubs will hold a special session on Thursday evening with musical guest Jihan Cox and a message from Beth Stephens Johnson. A reception and social will follow for all delegates at 9:00 p.m.

On Friday morning, administrative bishops and the AMC will attend a session entitled, “Advancing the Great Commission.” At noon, administrative bishops and their wives will join their Covenant Ministry Team (CMT) leaders at various locations for a luncheon.

The concluding session of Leadership 2016 will take place on Friday evening and feature the music of the Lee University Singers, conducted by Brad Moffett and vocalist Larry Ford. General Overseer Tim Hill will deliver a closing challenge.
