Hill to be Featured on Saturday Night Prayer Call
Church of God General Overseer Tim Hill will be the featured guest on the Saturday Night Fire Call this weekend, October 8, 2016. Prayer Call is a ministry of Church of God Prayer Ministries.
According to prayer coordinator P. Douglas Small, Church of God people have been praying together for the past two years on Saturday night via a telephone conference call. From Canada to the Caribbean, and at times, from the corners of the globe, they have been meeting together for prayer. Using the technology of telephone conferencing, every Saturday night, Small hosts a call to pray for revival in our churches and spiritual awakening in our culture.
“As newly appointed General Overseer, Dr. Tim Hill is committed to prayer as a pillar of the Church of God denomination,” Small stated. “In 2014, he spearheaded the One Plus One prayer campaign asking everyone to join him in allotting an extra minute of prayer and devotion time for the global harvest to his/her daily prayer schedule.”
To continue his prayer component, Hill will be the special guest on the Prayer Call, Saturday, October 8 at 9:00pm EST. The Saturday Night Fire Call began two years ago after a 21 Day Virtual Prayer Meeting where hundreds connected nightly for the virtual prayer call. Saturday Night Fire focuses on prayer for the Great Awakening including unreached peoples, missionaries, church planters, cities, nations and more.
Anyone can join the call. In fact, Small says, it is not uncommon for people from across a variety of denominations to be on the call, pouring out their heart to God. At times, there are guests and revival reports. At other times, there are first hand reports and requests from missionaries. There are calls that are designated as ‘open’ calls, where anyone can pray, but the focus is not on typical prayer requests. Small says it on “renewal, God changing us.”
The goal for the prayer call is to be a place where Church of God people can connect for prayer.
“It is the denomination’s weekly prayer meeting – by telephone. It is simple,” Small says. “Folks simply dial the provided number, punch in a code, mute their phone – and listen, and pray as others pray. Then, unmute, so their prayer can be heard by others across the nation. It is a great way to prepare our hearts for Sunday morning …”
