‘Night of Christian Joy’ to be Presented at Lee This Week
Cleveland, TN–Lee University’s Department of Theology recently announced the School of Religion will be sponsoring a special worship service on the topic of Christian Joy. This celebration will take place at 7:00 pm on November 17 in Pangle Hall on the south end of Lee’s campus.
The event will have four 12-minute sermonettes: Dr. Mark Proctor will address joy as freedom from sin’s dominion in Romans; Dr. Lisa Long will talk about John’s request for believers to love one another that your joy may be full; Rosalyn Small will discuss finding Christian joy in hardship in Philippians, and Andrew Banacos will offer reflections on Christian hope in resurrection from the dead as expressed in 1 Peter.
“We encourage everyone to join us on November 17 to celebrate the importance of joy in the life of the Christian believer,” said Proctor.
Proctor is an assistant professor of the New Testament in Lee’s School of Religion. Long is an associate professor of Christian Formation and the director of graduate studies in Christian Ministries at Lee.
Banacos is a grad student in Lee’s Biblical and Theological Studies program, while Small is a recent Theology department graduate.
Special guest Bishop J. David Stephens, the second assistant general overseer for the Church of God, will host the evening.
The Lee Campus Choir will perform at the event and the evening will close with a time of special prayer.
The service is free of charge and open to the public. Pangle Hall is located at the corner of Church Street and Central Avenue, the former sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Cleveland.
