Lee University Places on Two Prestigious Lists
Once again, Lee University ranked in the “top tier” of the recent U.S. News & World Report’s “Best Colleges” edition.
Lee ranked high in two categories this year. Under “Best Regional Universities,” Lee was No. 56 out of 105 in the Top Tier. Lee was also listed among the “A+ Schools for B Students” category, which lists colleges and universities alphabetically by region. This ranking included 25 schools from the South.
U.S. News has been ranking colleges for 32 years and continues to be a closely watched and respected college ranking system. The magazine reviewed nearly 1,600 colleges and universities nationwide for the 2017 annual issue.
In addition, the Corporation for National and Community Service (CNCS) recently named Lee University to the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll, the highest federal recognition awarded.
The President’s Honor Roll is the most prestigious recognition a university can receive for its work through community, service-learning, and civic engagement. The Honor Roll highlights four categories, including General Community Service, Interfaith Community Service, Economic Opportunity, and Education.
Lee was selected for the General Community Service Honor Roll with distinction. It was one of 115 schools that was identified with distinction and one of 652 schools listed on the General Community Service Honor Roll.
Lee has been incorporating service learning into its education program since 2003. The Lee University Leonard Center organizes service opportunities to prepare students for Christian citizenship through reflective community interactions that encourage a commitment to the ideals of service, benevolence, civic virtue, and social justice.
All students are required to obtain 80 hours of community service during their time at Lee in order to shape them into global citizens. Students invest weekly into building service-oriented relationships around the community.
The CNCS has placed Lee on the Honor Roll since its beginning in 2006. The university was awarded the Presidential Award in 2009.
