Operation Compassion Sends Relief to Tornado Victims
Last week was a deadly and disaster filled week, wildfires in Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina followed by deadly tornadoes and damaging thunderstorms in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. As each disaster struck, Operation Compassion was there to help survivors piece their lives back together.
The tornadoes that hit Alabama were destructive. Several businesses, a church and homes were destroyed or damaged as well as several lives were lost. In response, Operation Compassion sent a truck loaded with blankets, bottled water and food to the Rosalie area. Rosalie sustained the greatest damage during the storms that passed through. The Rosalie Church of God was completely destroyed.
In Tennessee, the Athens area was hit particularly hard by a tornado. Many structures were damaged or destroyed and lives were lost as well. With Athens being only a few miles from operational offices for Operation Compassion, the response was swift. Blankets, bottled water and food were delivered and distributed to storm survivors.
Operation Compassion also has continuing deliveries and distribution to the survivors of the Smoky Mountain fires in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, Tennessee and the North Carolina floods.
In order to continue these responses, Operation Compassion needs help, including financial partners to ensure these supplies arrive in a timely fashion to disaster areas and to the families who have lost everything.
