State Prayer Leadership Training Slated for January
Church of God State Prayer leaders will meet in Cleveland, Tenn., from Tuesday, January 10 through Thursday, January 12, 2017 for Prayer Leadership Training.
The meeting will be the first in four years. P. Douglas Small calls this “a critical meeting to give impetus to prayer mobilization” not only in connection with the FINISH Challenge of the denomination, but also in view of the urgency of our times.
State Prayer Leaders, Administrative Bishops, and State Prayer Team members are urged to attend the three-day conference. Congregations that are a part of the Praying Church Movement may also send a representative. Dr. Tim Hill, General Overseer, will address the gathering. Dr. Tom Phillips, Vice President of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and Director of the BGEA Library has been invited to connect with the group via a special SKYPE session.
Each day, conference attendees will participate in a special general headquarters revival event with Dr. Mark Rutland called Agee ‘17. Each evening, a virtual prayer experience will be simulcast from the Leadership and Communications Center and available to all Church of God congregations and members around the world via livestream.
General Overseer Hill noted, “We are calling our pastors and congregations, our leadership teams, to ‘Agree in 2017’ and beyond. We want to agree in prayer. Agree in renewal and evangelism. Agree to ‘finish’ the Great Commission.” Doug Small, who serves as the denominational prayer leader and also as the chair of the Pentecostal-Charismatic Churches of North America Prayer Commission, and as a member of the leadership team of the Denominational Prayer Leader’s Network noted, “The level of revival hunger and prayer intensity is rising. We are seeing pockets of revival outbreak that are rattling communities. We appear to be teetering on the edge of awakening. And we dare not miss our moment.”
This will be a unique gathering – with actual revival components and the global virtual prayer meeting. Small noted, “This is historic. Visionary.”
The conference will have time for prayer and vision. It will also include a review of practical resources available inside the denomination and outside. Small noted, “Linking state prayer leaders with those from other states creates a teaming effect. There are few things the Evil One fights more than prayer and prayer leaders.”
