General Assembly Website Unveiled
An expanded web presence with information about the upcoming 77th International General Assembly of the Church of God was unveiled earlier this week.
In early January the opportunity to register as a delegate and reserve hotel accommodations was launched on the Church of God website, churchofgod.org. While the new website allows access from there as well, this week the website www.GA18.org has become directly accessible.
GA18.org is intended to be a “one stop shop” for everything concerning the Church of God General Assembly. Currently it lists the special guests and night speakers, links to registration and hotel reservations, and details about two popular events, the LEAD conference and the Women’s Faith/Fire/Freedom celebration. It also includes a basic schedule outline and a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
“GA18.org has a lot more information to come,” stated Dr. John D. Childers, secretary general for the Church of God and chairman of the General Assembly cabinet. “We wanted to get what we know at this time on the site in anticipation of much more information in the coming weeks and months.” As departments and ministries, college alumni groups, state offices, and other organizations confirm information on their events they will be added to the master schedule.
Items being finalized and expected to be included on the site will be more information on the Orange County Convention Center, such as floor plans, parking and main event locations; links to Orlando area attractions; exhibit information; news and media releases; update videos; and a list of eligible Ordained Bishops with file numbers to assist the General Council in voting for Executive Council vacancies. GA18.org will also be the place where required documents, such as Previous Notice items and the proposed agenda, scheduled for a May 2018 release, will be posted. Delegates and attendees of the General Assembly are encouraged to check back in to the site on a regular basis.
The week of the General Assembly the site will transform into a resource that will provide items pertinent to the event, including daily news releases, social media information, notices, publications and access to the livestream.
