Youth and Discipleship Preparing for Teen Talent

Church of God Youth and Discipleship is once again coordinating the popular Teen Talent competition for youth ages 13-19. International competition for 2019 will take place July 29 – August 2 on the campus of Lee University.

“Since its beginning in 1961, Teen Talent has been one of the most exciting and rewarding programs sponsored by the International Department of Youth and Discipleship,” states the Youth and Discipleship website. “Thousands of participants work hard and spend long hours practicing and preparing to be involved in Teen Talent. This program continues to help teenagers in recognizing and developing their abilities and directing them toward reaching their fullest potentials for Christ.”

Teen Talent is led by Director David Blair and Assistant Director Rob Bailey, but as the event approaches, all staff, as well as state and regional youth and discipleship directors pitch in to make the week-long event successful. Thousands of participants, coming from the United States and international locations, such as Canada and the Caribbean, converge on the Lee campus where they are hosted in on-campus residence halls and fed in the dining halls. Also attending are local church youth ministers, parents, and other well-wishers.

Utilizing the theme, “Our Talent, His Glory,” Teen Talent offers competition in major categories of Music, Drama, Bible, Art, Multi-Media and Creative Writing, with multiple sub-categories under each. State and regional competitions have taken place to determine who will travel to the Lee University campus for internationals.

Official rules, downloadable manuals, contact information for each category and other resources are available at cogteetalent.com. For those who have qualified for international competition, there is also a “Teen Talent Checklist,” which includes information of housing, registration, and other information.
