Plans Continue for ‘GO 2020’ Evangelistic Outreach
Over 60 key leaders from different ministries (including the Church of God) met in late January over two days in Orlando, FL to network and pray for a massive evangelism effort in America, Global Outreach Day’s GO 2020 in May.
Dave Gibson, director of GO 2020 America, organized the gathering bringing together a diverse group of organizations and ministries that reach millions of people in the United States. Some of these groups are YWAM, Promise Keepers, K-Love Radio, Outreach Inc., Dare 2 Share Ministries, Every Home for Christ, National Latino Evangelical Coalition, PULSE, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Pro Athletes Outreach, CRU, and many other organizations.
“We shared the vision and gave an update on how the whole movement has progressed,” Beat Baumann, international director of Global Outreach Day said. Global Outreach Day is in its eighth year of mobilizing thousands of churches, organizations, and denominations for evangelism. “The main outcome is that everyone at the meeting made a commitment to participate.”
Mark Swank, coordinator for the Church of God GO 2020 outreach, said a countdown is on the website which has had 241,000 views. “We’ve mobilized a team to push this and each state has this countdown embedded on their web site,” he said. “We’re targeting May for a massive push on social media for Global Outreach Day.”
Greg Stier, president of Dare 2 Share Ministries said, “I believe we’re already in the beginning of the third great awakening” he said. “Three things are happening. Prayer is being prioritized, believers are being mobilized and unity is being maximized.”
Jeff Farmer, president of the Pentecostal-Charismatic Churches of North America, represents a coalition of over 30 denominations, a few megachurches and several organizations. “The theme of our annual meeting is GO 2020. We’re totally committed to GO 2020 during the month of May.”
GO 2020 America Director Dave Gibson said he his church was praying for 2,020 people to reach five for Christ. Gibson is the pastor of missions and evangelism for Grace Church. “We’re equipping people to share the Gospel and starting houses of prayer,” he said. A local radio station is promoting GO 2020 and the church has planned a “Commissioning Sunday.” “God is really moving and we’re trying to scale this around the country.” For more information go to http://www.go2020.world.
