Prayers Requested as Tropical Storm Targets Florida
Cleveland, TN: With Eta wavering between tropical storm and hurricane strength, Dr. Timothy M. Hill, General Overseer of the Church of God, issued the following call for prayer:
“Although weakened after causing massive destruction in Cuba, Guatemala, and other areas across Central America, Tropical Storm Eta still has sustained winds in excess of 65 mph and is expected to drop at least 8-12 inches of rain across most of Florida over the coming days. Eta is the 12th named storm this year, but it will be the first to make landfall in Florida during this historic hurricane season.
Because we have experienced so many storms over the past few months, our disaster response teams and resources have been stretched thin. However, I have been assured that our teams are ready to respond in Florida to help in the recovery efforts after Eta.
Led by Operation Compassion, Men & Women of Action, and God’s Pit Crew, as well as a host of other disaster relief teams, the men and women of the Church of God will be there to provide assistance as soon as it is safe to get into the hard hit areas.
To provide financial donations to the Church of God disaster relief efforts, contributions are accepted through the Church of God’s secure giving portal located here.
Most importantly, your prayers are needed for our friends, family, and fellow believers that are and will be impacted by this storm.”
