While the IEC has met informally over the last month, the August 6 meeting was the first of the regularly scheduled monthly gatherings of the IEC since the five were elected to their posts at the recent International General Assembly. Led by General Overseer Gary Lewis, the IEC includes First Assistant Tony Stewart, Second Assistant Wayne Dority, Third Assistant Mark Williams, and Secretary General Thomas Madden. The Committee gathered in the Executive Committee meeting room and were joined by former general overseer Dr. Lamar Vest, who led an opening devotion. Unable to join the meeting in person due to a previously scheduled medical procedure, Thomas Madden is recuperating.

The International Women’s Committee (IWC) consists of the wives of the five IEC members and is led by International Women’s Ministries President Lori Lewis. She was joined by her colleagues Kaci Stewart, Shelly Dority, Sandra Kay Williams, and Charla Madden. The women’s leaders came together for their first official gathering as well and heard from Lori Lewis who shared her heart for women’s ministries, including leadership development, potential ministry projects, and the website.

The convening of the two leadership groups comes just days after August 1, 2024 the official “Transition Day” in the Church of God. The day was designated following the conclusion of the General Assembly in Indianapolis on July 12 and allowed for those who received new ministry appointments to transition to their new assignments. Transition Day was effective for several at the International Offices who relocated to Cleveland from previous ministries and for administrative bishops who are beginning new leadership roles at their appointed states or regions.
