New Clothes for Children

Two Church of God missionaries share a unique evangelistic project they implemented.

We recently started a new program where we present a quart-sized canning jar with a picture of the Huaraz Soup Kitchen to different churches we go to. During the course of one service I explained to the people that we needed to give a change of clothes to the children at Christmas time. I asked the youth, along with the adults, to take one of the jars and fill it up with $50, the price of a change of clothes and shoes. They could ask people to help them or put their loose change into it.

At the conclusion of the service, I ran out of jars! Some had tears in their eyes as they felt the leading of God toward this part of the ministry.

Amanda Quigley, the youth leader at the Ooltewah Church of God (Pastor Edmon Stallings), is going to involve the youth of our home church in this effort.

I look forward to being with the children the last of this year and seeing their faces light up when they go out and buy their new outfits. I’ve done some of this before and the children just love it, almost as much as I love doing it for them.

What a joy!
