Lessons Learned by a Missionary
A missionary shares important lessons that he has learned from ministering on the missions field.
I have learned many lessons since ministering here in the Middle East. They haven’t been lessons from a book, but from personal contact with the people. I praise God for the opportunities to share the gospel and reach people who have never heard His name.
Lesson One
Go! We must go. If you personally cannot go, then send someone else. People are hungry for the Word, but they cannot hear it unless you tell them.
Lesson Two
Bless people. I have yet to find one person who would not allow me to bless them. They may not accept Jesus right away, but they will not turn down a blessing.
Lesson Three
Doing is better than talking. Actions speak louder than words. We must be sure we share the Word and show people the love of God. Through communion and the washing of feet we show a humble spirit that is God’s heart.
Lesson Four
Follow the Word and not traditions. Scripture is powerful. Many cannot read or write…share the Word with them. Let them see God’s heart and Word.
Lesson Five
Give everyone an opportunity to say the sinner’s prayer. Some may be afraid to come forth and ask to pray: you must go to them. No one knows what tomorrow holds. You do not want to miss an opportunity to lead someone to Christ.
We praise God for the opportunities we have had in the Middle East to reach people. Continue to pray that God would give us other opportunities to reach people in this nation.
