Youth Dept. Conducts 2010 Training Conference in Philippines
The Asian Seminary of Christian Ministries in Makati City, Philippines, hosted the YCE Training Team led by Tony Lane last month. The event offered two general sessions and 24 different workshops, chosen to address the particular training needs of the Philippines. Over 600 pastors and leaders participated in the Saturday training. An enormous outpouring of the Holy Spirit was present throughout the day.
The 3-day conference “Building the Missional Church” was attended by the entire faculty, staff, and student body of the Asian Seminary along with invited guests. Church of God National Overseer of the Philippines, Dr. Mark Ligero, led a group of regional overseers and district officers with church members who came in from all over the Philippines to be equipped by the teaching of eight seasoned teachers, preachers, and trainers from the United States.
Rev. Tony Lane, International Coordinator of Discipleship and Children’s Ministry for the Church of God International Department of Youth and Christian Education, was asked to return after his tremendously successful YCE training conference held here last year. This year he led a group of experienced and powerful speakers who taught 30 workshops divided into four major tracks – Children’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Discipleship & Christian Education, and Pastoral Ministry & Leadership Tracks. Practical application of each module was the emphasis in these workshops which ran continuously throughout the 3-day event, giving the participants an effective, hands-on learning process in each track.
The 2010 YCE Training Team members with Tony Lane were Lance Colkmire, Children’s Pastor and Christian Education Editor of COG Cleveland, TN; John Harris, Administrative Pastor of Bay Harbour COG, Brunswick, GA; Everett Fraley, Youth Pastor of Ghent COG, Beaver, WV; Randy Holdman, Senior Pastor of Parkway Life COG, Naples, FL; Kip Potter, Youth Pastor, and Adam Bavar, Administrator of Student Ministries, both of Daystar Church, Cullman AL; and Trey Thompson, Youth Pastor, Unity COG, Jesup, GA.
The YCE Training Team not only taught students, teachers, and ministers what Jesus’ model of ministry in the contemporary church should be, they also portrayed and enabled the participants to move forward with boldness to fulfill the Missional mandate of the Great Commission. Every person who experienced this event went home on fire, well equipped, and determined to allow God to transform their ministry into what it truly means to be a Missional church.
Dasmariñas Conference
Immediately following the three-day conference at ASCM, the YCE Training Team headed south to the Dasmariñas Church of God in Cavite where they held a one day YCE training conference on Saturday, February 6.
The event was hosted and promoted by Senior Pastor and Regional Overseer, Bishop Anthony Velasco and his wife Gigi. The conference was attended by select senior pastors, youth pastors, and children’s ministers from across the Northern Luzon, Central-Southern Luzon, Mindanao, and Metro-Manila regions.
The event offered two general sessions and 24 different workshops, specifically chosen to address the particular training needs of the Philippines. Over 600 pastors and leaders participated in the Saturday training. An enormous outpouring of the Holy Spirit opened and closed the day through the anointed ministry of Tony Lane.
We thank God for this team of power and ministerial experience who came to give of themselves in the authority of our Lord Jesus Christ and to bring blessings and expertise to the church and ministers in the Philippines! Glory to God!
