Ministering in Guatemala

Missionary Evangelist Harold Hanks spent two weeks in Guatemala recently at the Casa Shalom Orphanage in San Lucas. The first week we held Vacation Bible School for the children. It was a great time, where they learned more about Jesus, and had fun doing it.
Then another team arrived, and helped us celebrate Christmas with the children both at Casa Shalom, and at Rio Bravo. Rio Bravo is a small town in one of the poorest areas of Guatemala.

We feed between 200-350 children daily there. We fed 350 that day, and gave gift bags to each of the children. We then took the children from the orphanage to the shoe store, and bought each one of them a new pair of shoes. Later, it was on to McDonald’s to play in the Play Land, and eat lunch.

Friday night we had a pizza party, and a time of singing Christmas carols. They got to open their gifts; it was wonderful for them, and for us.

We had a special group with us. Richard Baker from the Lazarus Foundation, brought a team with him to help us celebrate. Dr. Gene Rice and Rev. Jimmy Smith, along with some of the secretaries of the Lazarus Foundation came, and were a blessing to the children of Shalom.

Thank you to all of those who helped us make Christmas special for a special bunch of kids!
