On June 9, 16-year-old Tyler Carver, son of Hugh and Nona Carver, was tragically killed in an automobile accident. Hugh Carver is director of Men and Women of Action, a ministry of the Church of God which has assisted in restoring the lives of untold hundreds of individuals and families through disaster relief, construction of churches, homes and repairs.

Tyler Hugh Carver was a rising junior at Cleveland High School, where he played for the Raiders basketball team, was a state contender in track, football (9th grade), played in concert band, school plays, orchestra, and was a Raider Scholar. He was gifted academically, musically and athletically. He planned to pursue a career in orthopedics with an emphasis in sports medicine.

He was a member of the North Cleveland Church of God, where he was active in the church orchestra. He traveled on several mission trips with Men and Women of Action.

Survivors include his parents, Hugh and Nona Carver; brother, Heath of Nashville; sister, Heather; grandparents, Jack and Lucille Smith of Cleveland; aunts: Gwen Smith of Stevens Point, Wis., and Beth Smith of Cleveland; and uncle, Jack Smith, of Conyers, Ga.

Due to an outpouring of love and compassion and the desire for individuals to remember Tyler, a memorial fund has been established in his memory. Donations have already poured in from those who attended the funeral and paid respects last week, but for others who wish to honor Tyler’s love of God, school, sports and life, memorials may be made to the Tyler Carver Memorial Scholarship, c/o Bradley/Cleveland Public Education Foundation, 3304 North Ocoee St., Cleveland, TN 37312.

Please keep the Carver and Smith families in your continued prayers.
