Engage Conference Will Address Contemporary Ministry Topics
When delegates gather in Atlanta, Georgia May 12 and 13 for the 2011 Engage Conference, they will be in for two days of intense training and spiritual uplifting. The first day begins at 1:00 p.m. and there will be three general sessions and five breakouts before the day is complete.
The featured keynote speaker for day one will be Chris Hodges, pastor of Church of the Highlands in Birmingham, a dynamic church plant which is setting the example for the contemporary church. Hodges will address all three general sessions at 1:00, 3:00 and 7:00 p.m. A 90-minute breakout will consist of five options, all led by members of the pastoral staff of Church of the Highlands. Delegates will be able to choose from the topics of prayer, small groups, programming, creating a discipleship culture or volunteers.
Day two will begin at 9:00 a.m. with a general session featuring the testimony of Shawn Lovejoy, pastor of the Mountain Lake Church in suburban Atlanta. He is also founder of churchplanters.com, an organization designed to give pastors permission to do what it takes to reach people disconnected from Christ and the church.
Breakouts that day will feature Church of God leaders who will address topics of interest to today’s churches. They will include “How to Develop an Annual Stewardship Plan,” led by senior pastor of Stevens Creek Church Marty Baker; “Self Leadership and How to Use A Filter,” with Gerald McGinnis, pastor of Park West Church of God; “Worship and Programming” with Dr. Brad Moffett, professor at Lee University and worship leader ; “Media” with Jeremy Isaacs and Whitney Till of Mount Paran North; “Marketing and Social Media: How to Get the Word Out,” to be led by Todd Sturgell and Sharon Hutko of Stevens Creek; and “Breaking Growth Barriers,” led by Jerry Lawson pastor of DayStar Church in Cullman, Alabama.
The final two general sessions will consist of an on-stage interview with former general overseer and long-term pastor Dr. Paul L. Walker. Walker was senior pastor of Mount Paran Church of God for 37 years before he was elected general overseer in 1996. A closing session and communion service that afternoon will be conducted by current general overseer Dr. Raymond Culpepper.
Registration for Engage is available on-line at www.engageconference.net. Individual delegate fees are $69 with a $300 unlimited group registration. The fees include admission to all sessions, breakouts, conference materials, breaks and two meals. Engage will be held at Mount Paran Church of God on Mount Paran Road in Atlanta.
