Internet Degree Program to be Offered Through Lee University
The Church of God Division of Education is pleased to announce that the popular Internet Degree Program (IDP) will now be offered at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. Previously, the IDP was only available through Patten University in Oakland, California.
Lee University is an accredited Church of God institution with a long history of providing post-secondary ministry education and training. Lee has established itself as an excellent Christ-centered university enjoying significant regard and influence both in the church and academic communities. Lee is emerging as a leader in higher education in the southeastern region and was ranked in 2010 in the “Top Tier” in the South by U.S. News & World Report (Comprehensive Medium- Size Universities). Lee is also ranked by Princeton Review’s “Best Colleges” and is now one of the 141 colleges named Best in the Southeast. The university’s growing reputation as a quality institution can be seen in the high caliber of faculty, students, and friends who are drawn to the campus. “America’s 100 Best College Buys” chose Lee as one of their top choices every year since 2006. This annual national college survey seeks to identify those colleges and universities who are providing an academically superior educational environment at the lowest possible cost.
Effective this Fall semester 2011, and subject to appropriate approvals, the IDP Program will offer a Bachelor of Science degree in church leadership with concentrations in four areas: 1) counseling leadership, 2) ministry (pastoral) leadership, 3) music and worship leadership and 4) youth ministries leadership. The Lee University Internet Degree Program consists of a complete 120 semester hour degree that is completely online. This program is affordable and available, anywhere in the world that has Internet access. Lee offers Pell Grants, ministry scholarships and Federal Direct Student Loans are also available to qualifying students.
“This initiative is further recognition of the denomination’s commitment to support ministerial education and training from a global perspective,” stated Dr. Delton Alford, director of the program. “It also provides a valuable new role for Lee University to play in offering fully-online ministerial training in the Church of God.”
