David paints a beautiful picture of how God views unity. “It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down on the beard, running down on Aaron’s beard, down the collar of his robes” (Psalm 133:2). Aaron was only allowed to minister unto the Lord after he was anointed with oil. There is great significance in the comparison of unity and oil; both are very precious in the eyes of God. The body of Christ is most fruitful when dwelling together in one mind and one accord. Living in unity with our brothers and sisters is like being saturated with the oil of the Lord; the very oil of the anointing that prepares us to be ministers of the gospel.
