The yearly celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month runs from September 15 to October 15. In September 1968, the United States Congress authorized President Lyndon B. Johnson to proclaim National Hispanic Heritage Week. It was observed during the week that included September 15 and 16. Then, in 1989, President Ronald Reagan expanded the celebration to thirty days from September 15 to October 15. This was enacted into law on August 17, 1988.
